Monster Cart Upsell: Pricing, Review & 7 Best Alternatives (2026)

Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift is a Shopify slide cart app by Monster Apps: 4.7 stars from 538 reviews, free up to 50 orders a month, then $9.99 or $14.99, with no plan listed above about 200 orders. For growing stores, the best alternative is Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell (our app), from $9.99/mo. Checked 11 October 2026.

Every rating, review count and price below comes from the live Shopify App Store listings on 11 October 2026. Since our 19 August check, Monster Cart has added a free 50-order plan, cut its paid prices (from $12.99 and $21.99 to $9.99 and $14.99), grown from 491 to 538 reviews, and no longer shows the Built for Shopify badge on its listing.

Key Facts (Verified 11 October 2026)

  • Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift — by Monster Apps, launched July 7, 2020. 4.7 stars, 538 reviews (494 of them five-star). Listing language: English. 10-day free trial on paid plans. The Built for Shopify badge was not shown on the listing (our August check recorded it).
  • Monster Cart pricing — Free for up to 50 orders (labelled a launch offer), Starter $9.99/mo (51 to 200 orders), Scaler $14.99/mo (card labelled 100 To 199 orders). No published tier above about 200 monthly orders.
  • Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell (our app) — 4.9 stars, 40 reviews (38 of them five-star), Built for Shopify, launched January 12, 2024. Published plans $9.99/$19.99/$29.99/$49.99 per month (up to 100/200/500/1,000 orders), continuing to $79.99, $99.99 and $149.99 for higher volumes plus a $299/mo Enterprise plan. Every feature on every plan, 14-day trial, 8 languages.
  • Verdict — Monster Cart is now the cheaper cart drawer for stores under about 200 orders a month: free to 50 orders and $9.99 to 200, against Oxify's $9.99 to 100 and $19.99 to 200. Oxify's case is headroom (plans that continue past 200 orders) and scope (cart + product page + post-purchase in one install).

Monster Cart Upsell Alternative for Shopify

What Is Monster Cart Upsell?

Monster Cart Upsell — listed in full as Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift on the Shopify App Store, and sometimes searched as "Monster Cart", "MonsterCart" or "Monster Upsells" — is a slide cart drawer app from Monster Apps. It replaces your theme's default cart with a customisable drawer, then layers on progress bars, free gifts, one-tick add-ons and product page volume discounts.

Feature-wise you get a customisable slide cart drawer, progress bars that unlock free gifts and discounts, one-tick upsells for warranties and shipping protection, product page volume discounts, frequently bought together recommendations, and free gift with purchase (GWP) rules. Merchant reviews consistently credit it with lifting average order value and praise the support team.

Free (launch offer)$0Up to 50Labelled "FREE 2.0 Launch Offer" on the listing

Scaler$14.99/mo100 To 19910-day free trial; same feature list as Starter on the card

The detail most comparisons miss: the published ladder stops at about 200 monthly orders, and the Starter (51 to 200) and Scaler (100 To 199) ranges overlap, so confirm which plan applies to you before you install. If your store does 300, 800 or 2,000 orders a month, there's no listed plan for you — you'd need to talk to the developer. The free 50-order plan is labelled a launch offer, so ask how long that pricing lasts. Oxify's published ladder runs to 1,000 orders and continues at $79.99 (1,001–2,000), $99.99 (2,001–3,000) and $149.99 (3,001+), with a $299/mo Enterprise option above that.

Is Monster Cart Upsell Any Good? An Honest Read of the Reviews

At 4.7 stars across 538 reviews with 92% five-star (494 reviews), the answer is: mostly yes. One thing changed since August: our 19 August check recorded the Built for Shopify badge on the listing, and on 11 October 2026 it was not shown. The listing doesn't say why. The badge is Shopify's mark for apps that meet its performance, design and integration standards, so its absence doesn't mean the app is broken, but the listing no longer carries that independent check; ask the developer if it matters for your store.

The 5% of reviews at three stars or below (29 of 538) cluster around a few recurring themes. These are merchants' own published words on the App Store listing, with dates, not our claims:

  • Discounts displaying differently at checkout. A March 19, 2026 one-star review says "the discount calculation is weird and shows up differently in check out". A February 8, 2025 reviewer reported discount calculation errors when combining with existing Shopify discount codes.
  • Occasional cart bugs. A March 18, 2025 review describes a cart refresh bug redirecting shoppers to the homepage. A May 20, 2026 review reports the app blocking pinch-zoom on mobile.
  • Mobile footprint. A June 2025 two-star review says the drawer "makes looking at the store on a phone to busy" — a design preference more than a defect, but worth previewing on a phone before you launch.
  • Gaps around subscriptions and variants. Reviews from December 2025 and January 2025 flag missing subscription support and product variant limitations.
  • Support response times. Support is the app's most-praised attribute in five-star reviews, but several low-star reviewers describe slow or unanswered tickets. Both experiences appear in the same listing.

What the newest reviews say. The ten most recent reviews on 11 October 2026 (dated 10 September to 8 October 2026) were nine five-star and one four-star, and most credit the support team. The four-star review (22 September 2026) describes the cart stopping on new landing pages until support fixed it: the same occasional cart bug pattern as the older low-star reviews, though resolved. Shopify's AI-generated "What merchants think" summary on the reviews page says merchants credit the app with raising average order value and sales.

The honest read: the complaints are about edge cases and scale, not about the app being broken. Most stores under 200 orders a month will have a good experience. The reasons to look elsewhere are the 200-order ceiling, an English-only listing, and the surfaces the listing doesn't name — post-purchase upsells and multi-currency, in particular.

How Common Is Monster Cart Upsell on Real Shopify Stores?

On 11 October 2026 we read the homepage and first product page of 475 live Shopify stores in 10 verticals for storefront traces of 30 tracked apps, five of them cart drawer rows (our October 2026 check of 475 live Shopify stores has the full method). Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift was detected on 1 of the 475 stores. Oxify's apps were detected on none, so this check says nothing about how widely either app is used.

Rebuy Personalization Engine (Smart Cart code in the theme)31
Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsell11
Amp Slide Cart Upsell Drawer5
Essent Cart Drawer Cart Upsell2

The Rebuy row is Smart Cart code found in the theme of a store where Rebuy was detected, not proof the Smart Cart is switched on; Rebuy Personalization Engine as a whole was detected on 123 stores (25.9%). The rows overlap, so don't add them: 48 of the 475 stores (10.1%) had at least one drawer row detected, 243 (51.2%) already showed cart-drawer markup or a drawer setting in their own theme, and 15 had both. Kaching CartDrawer and iCart, two alternatives below, were not among the 30 tracked apps, so there is no count for them.

The sample is hand-picked and skews to larger, app-heavy brands, and every count is a lower bound, because checkout and post-purchase surfaces leave no trace on the storefront. It shows what a store loads, not how well an app works or what it earns. Because many themes already ship a drawer, what a drawer app adds on top is the offers: upsells, reward bars and free gifts.

  6. Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsell — when we last verified it in August 2026: 4.7 stars (854 reviews), from $29.99/mo, with a free plan for development stores only. Built by Rokt: in-cart upsells and cross-sells, rewards with progress bars, free shipping goals, HTML/CSS design control, 14-day trial. Skip it if: you want a live-store free plan or anything under $29.99. See our UpCart alternative breakdown.
  7. Rebuy Personalization Engine — 4.7 stars (853 reviews), free for development stores, paid from $25/mo with a 14-day trial; no Built for Shopify badge was shown on 11 October 2026. Not a cart drawer app so much as a personalisation platform with a Smart Cart inside it: AI recommendations, cart, checkout and post-purchase upsells, A/B testing and Shopify Flow support. Best for: larger stores that want A/B testing and a data team to use it. Skip it if: you want a simple drawer at a flat price; Rebuy's pricing scales with orders. More in our Rebuy alternatives guide.

How to read this table: both apps cover the core cart drawer job, and Monster Cart has more than ten times the review history (538 reviews against 40). On price, Monster Cart is now the cheaper app up to about 200 orders a month, free to 50 and then $9.99 or $14.99, while Oxify is $9.99 to 100 orders and $19.99 to 200. Oxify's case is what comes after: post-purchase upsells, subscriptions, multi-currency and 8 languages in the same install, the Built for Shopify badge, and plans that keep going to 3,000+ orders.

Why Do Merchants Look for a Monster Cart Upsell Alternative?

1. The pricing ladder stops at 200 orders a month

This is the single most common trigger. Monster Cart's top card tops out at about 200 monthly orders (the Scaler card is labelled 100 To 199) and there is no published tier above it. A store crossing 250 orders in November has no self-serve upgrade path on the listing. Oxify publishes plans up to 1,000 orders and continues to $79.99, $99.99 and $149.99 per month for higher volumes, so growth is a checkbox rather than a support ticket.

2. It's English only, with no listed multi-currency

If you sell into more than one market, Monster Cart's listing shows English as the only language and doesn't list multi-currency. (Oxify's own listing language field also reads English, so judge it by the app: it supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Danish, plus multi-currency.)

3. The listing doesn't name a post-purchase upsell

Monster Cart's listing describes cart drawer and product page offers; its one-tick upsells are listed as shipping protection, priority processing and warranties. A one-click post-purchase offer — shown after payment, so it carries zero abandonment risk on the original order — is the highest-margin AOV surface most stores never turn on. Oxify includes it on every plan.

4. Discount behaviour at checkout

Several low-star reviewers (March 2026, February 2025) report cart discounts displaying differently at checkout or conflicting with existing Shopify discount codes. If you run stacked automatic discounts, test that combination during the trial rather than after launch — with any cart app.

Where Monster Cart Still Wins

Being fair about this matters more than winning the comparison:

  • Review history. 538 reviews since 2020 against Oxify's 40 since 2024. If production track record is your hard requirement, that gap is real and Monster Cart wins it.
  • Price below 200 orders. Free to 50 orders and $9.99 to 200, against Oxify's $9.99 to 100 and $19.99 to 200.
  • Support. The most-repeated praise in Monster Cart's five-star reviews, including most of the ten newest, is fast, personal help from the team.
  • Merchant-reported AOV lift. Reviews repeatedly credit the app with raising average order value, and Shopify's own review summary says the same. The core product does its job.

If you run under 200 orders a month in a single English-speaking market and don't need post-purchase offers, Monster Cart is a perfectly reasonable, and now cheaper, choice. The case for switching gets stronger the faster you grow.

How Do You Switch from Monster Cart in 4 Steps?

  1. Install Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell from the Shopify App Store and start the 14-day free trial.
  2. Match your brand. Set colours, fonts and cart layout so the drawer blends into your theme. Preview on a duplicate theme first if you can.
  3. Rebuild your money features. Free shipping bar, free gift thresholds, in-cart upsells, then a post-purchase offer. For the free-shipping goal, the median dollar threshold shown on homepages in the same store check was $75 (165 stores; quartiles $50 and $124.50), a figure stores display, not a recommendation. Test a stacked discount code end-to-end before you go live.
  4. Disable Monster Cart, then uninstall it. Never run two cart drawers at once — pause the old app the moment Oxify is live and tested, then uninstall so no leftover theme code remains.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Monster Cart Upsell?

Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift is a Shopify slide cart drawer app by Monster Apps, launched in July 2020. It replaces your theme's cart with a customisable drawer and adds progress bars, free gifts, one-tick add-ons like shipping protection, frequently bought together recommendations and product page volume discounts. On 11 October 2026 it held 4.7 stars across 538 reviews, and its listing no longer showed the Built for Shopify badge.

How much does Monster Cart Upsell cost?

On 11 October 2026 Monster Cart was free for up to 50 monthly orders (labelled a launch offer), $9.99/mo for 51 to 200 orders, and $14.99/mo on a Scaler card labelled 100 To 199 orders. Paid plans come with a 10-day free trial. No plan above about 200 monthly orders is published on the listing, so larger stores need to contact the developer.

Is Monster Cart Upsell good?

Yes, for most stores its size. It holds 4.7 stars across 538 reviews with 92% five-star, and its ten newest reviews (10 September to 8 October 2026) were nine five-star and one four-star. Recurring complaints in low-star reviews are discounts displaying differently at checkout, occasional cart bugs, gaps around subscriptions and variants, and its mobile footprint. The structural limits are the 200-order ceiling, an English-only listing and no post-purchase upsell named on it.

Does Monster Cart Upsell have a free plan?

Yes, for now. On 11 October 2026 the listing offered a free plan for up to 50 orders a month, labelled a launch offer, so ask how long it lasts. Essent Cart Drawer Cart Upsell (5.0 stars, 1,081 reviews, Built for Shopify) is free up to 30 orders a month, and Amp Slide Cart has a free-forever tier. Kaching CartDrawer is free only on development stores.

Does Monster Cart Upsell slow down your store?

Every cart app adds some JavaScript, so the useful test is your own store. Shopify's enforced rule is that an app must not lower the storefront Lighthouse performance score by more than 10 points, and the Built for Shopify badge repeats that limit. We have not measured Monster Cart's effect on any store, so run Lighthouse on your theme before and after installing any cart app.

What is the best Monster Cart Upsell alternative?

For stores that will grow past about 200 orders a month, Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell (our app): 4.9 stars from 40 reviews, Built for Shopify, from $9.99/mo for up to 100 orders, with one-click post-purchase upsells, in-cart subscriptions and multi-currency that Monster Cart's listing doesn't name, and plans that continue past 3,000 monthly orders. For a bigger review base, Kaching CartDrawer (5.0, 1,484 reviews) is the closest like-for-like swap.

How much does Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell cost?

Plans start at $9.99/mo for up to 100 orders, then $19.99 (up to 200), $29.99 (up to 500) and $49.99 (up to 1,000). Above that the ladder continues at $79.99 (1,001–2,000 orders), $99.99 (2,001–3,000) and $149.99 (3,001+), with an optional $299/mo Enterprise plan. Every feature is included on every tier, and every plan comes with a 14-day free trial.

Is Oxify cheaper than Monster Cart?

Not at every volume. On 11 October 2026 Monster Cart was free to 50 orders and $9.99/mo for 51 to 200, while Oxify is $9.99/mo for up to 100 orders and $19.99 for up to 200, so Monster Cart is cheaper or equal below about 200 orders. Above that Monster Cart publishes no plan, while Oxify continues from $29.99 (up to 500 orders) to $149.99 (3,001+).

Can I move my upsells from Monster Cart to Oxify?

There's no automated import — you rebuild your offers inside Oxify with the built-in editor. Do it during the 14-day trial while Monster Cart is still running, preview on a duplicate theme, then disable and uninstall Monster Cart so two cart drawers never load at once.

Does Oxify have post-purchase upsells?

Yes — one-click post-purchase upsells on every plan, so you can offer an extra product after payment without putting the original order at risk. Monster Cart's listing describes cart drawer and product page offers but doesn't name a post-purchase funnel, so ask the developer if you need one.

What's the best free Monster Cart alternative?

Essent Cart Drawer Cart Upsell — 5.0 stars across 1,081 reviews, Built for Shopify, and free up to 30 orders a month (from $8.99/mo above that). You get a slide cart with AI or hand-picked recommendations, a reward bar with spend tiers, sticky add-to-cart and translations at no cost. Amp Slide Cart's free-forever tier (cart styling, announcements with an urgency timer, trust badges) is a good second option; its upsells start at $29.99.

How many stores use Monster Cart Upsell?

In our scan of 475 live Shopify storefronts on 11 October 2026, Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift was detected on 1 store, against 11 for UpCart, 5 for Amp Slide Cart and 2 for Essent. The sample is hand-picked, skews to larger brands and shows only what a storefront loads, so it is not a measure of Monster Cart's real install base: its listing shows 538 reviews.

Final Verdict

Monster Cart Upsell is a good app that a lot of small stores are genuinely happy with — 4.7 stars from 538 reviews, support people who show up, and since our August check a free plan up to 50 orders and $9.99 to 200. If you're doing under 200 orders a month in English, install it and get on with your day.

The reason to pick Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsell (our app) instead is scope and headroom: post-purchase upsells and product page deals in the same install, 8 languages and multi-currency, the Built for Shopify badge, and a pricing ladder that doesn't run out at 200 orders a month. You pay more than Monster Cart below 200 orders and stop worrying about the ceiling above it. If you expect to grow, that's the difference that matters.
