Shopify Cart Drawer for Furniture & High-Ticket Stores: What to Put In It (43 Stores Checked)

A furniture store cart drawer with one sofa, a made-to-order delivery note, a fabric protection add-on, free swatches, a pay-over-time note and the checkout button, next to the headline Cart Drawer for Furniture and High-Ticket Stores

Nobody adds a $1,900 sofa to the cart on a whim. So a furniture store's cart drawer has a different job from a T-shirt store's. It's less "add one more thing" and more "answer the last three worries": When will it arrive? Can I afford it? What if something goes wrong?

Answer those three, add one small extra, and get out of the way.

We checked 43 live US Shopify furniture, mattress and home stores on November 4, 2026. The middle product price was about $900. We added items to the cart on 12 of them. Here's what they show, and the drawer layout we'd build for any store where the average order runs into the hundreds or thousands.

Quick Answer (For Skim Readers)

  • Show the delivery date or lead time. 26 of 43 stores state one. In the carts we tested, the best said "Estimated Delivery: Nov 14 - Nov 18."
  • Show a pay-over-time option. 32 of 43 stores load a financing widget. Affirm (19 stores) leads.
  • Offer protection, switched off. 9 stores sell fabric or product protection through Mulberry or Extend.
  • Keep add-ons small. Pillows, a throw or a care kit. Save the second big piece for later.
  • Offer free swatches to the unsure. 14 stores mention swatches.
  • Reward with service, not discounts. White-glove delivery (19 stores mention it) feels bigger than 5% off and costs you a known amount.
  • Skip fake urgency. "Hurry! Your order is reserved" isn't true unless your app really holds the stock.

A note from me. I'm Aditya, co-founder of Oxify. We make a Shopify cart drawer app, so keep that in mind.

One lesson from our own reviews: in 2024, an office-furniture store in Germany gave our app 3 stars, saying it broke their existing cart drawer when they installed it. Furniture themes are often heavily customised. Whatever cart app you try, ours included, test it on a copy of your theme first.

None of the 43 stores below use Oxify. This is what's common in the category, not a list of our customers.

What 43 Shopify Furniture Stores Show in Their Cart

We tried 65 furniture, mattress, rug, lighting and home brands. 43 are US-facing Shopify stores we could read. We read each homepage and one product page, then added an item to the cart on 12 stores and read what came back.

Bar chart of what 43 Shopify furniture stores show: 32 show a financing widget, 27 open a cart drawer, 26 mention a lead time, 19 mention white-glove delivery, 17 offer a home or sleep trial, 14 mention fabric swatches, 12 run a cart or upsell app and 9 sell product protection; Affirm appears on 19 stores, a Shop Pay Installments banner on 11 and Klarna on 8
Our scan of 43 US Shopify furniture and home stores, November 4, 2026. Apps that load only after a click are missed, so app counts are a floor, not a full count.

What stood out:

  • Financing is everywhere. 32 of 43 stores load a financing widget. Affirm is on 19, a Shop Pay Installments banner on 11, Klarna on 8. Ten mattress and bedding stores also accept HSA/FSA payment through Truemed.
  • Delivery time is the next big message. 26 stores state a lead time and 19 mention white-glove delivery.
  • Trials and returns build trust. 33 stores talk about returns and 17 offer a home or sleep trial, like Nolah's 365 nights.
  • Free shipping lines vary wildly. From $90 (Branch) and $100 (Brooklinen) to $1,000 (Thuma) and $2,000 (Burrow).
  • Cart apps are less common than in other niches. 12 of 43 stores run one we could see. Rebuy leads with 7.

Here's what the carts showed. Medley and Burrow are from product pages; we didn't add items to their carts.

Why Big Carts Are Different

Home and furniture stores convert a little less than other Shopify stores, and their orders are about twice as big. That changes what the drawer should do.

  • Fewer buyers: Littledata's benchmark of 62 Shopify home and furniture stores (August to October 2026) puts the median conversion rate at 1.0%, against 1.3% for all Shopify stores. The group includes decor, kitchen, bedding and garden brands.
  • Bigger orders: the same benchmark puts the median order at $213, against $111 for all Shopify stores.
  • More abandoned carts: 81% of sessions that added to cart didn't buy, against 79% for all Shopify stores.
  • Slow delivery scares people off: in Baymard Institute's survey, 20% of shoppers who abandoned an order said delivery was too slow. 40% blamed extra costs.

So the drawer's job is to remove doubt, not to push more stuff. Every block below answers one doubt.

The High-Ticket Cart Drawer, Block by Block

Annotated furniture store cart drawer layout: 1 delivery date and notes, 2 pay-over-time note, 3 protection plan switched off by default, 4 finish-the-room add-on, 5 free swatches, 6 white-glove delivery reward, 7 returns and warranty, each labelled with the Oxify Cart Drawer and Upsells block that builds it
The layout below, drawn as an illustration. Labels show which Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells block builds each part. Not a live store.

1. When and How It Arrives

  • The question it answers: "When will I get it, and will it fit through my door?"
  • Show a date range if you can: Benchmade Modern's "Estimated Delivery: Nov 14 - Nov 18" is the clearest we saw. Albany Park works out dates by state.
  • Let them check their zip code. Outer and McGee & Co. both show a zip-code shipping estimate on the cart page.
  • If you can't, show the lead time: "In stock, ships in 3 to 5 days" or "Made to order, ships in 6 to 8 weeks." Use the real number for that item.
  • Many sites skip this: in a 2023 benchmark, Baymard found 41% of sites showed a shipping speed instead of a delivery date. It's an easy way to stand out.
  • Shopify can help at checkout: if you set fulfillment and delivery times, Shopify shows delivery dates at checkout. The drawer still needs its own line.
  • Add a delivery notes box: "Stairs? Gate code? Tight hallway?" Benchmade Modern has an "Add order notes (optional)" field for this.

2. A Pay-Over-Time Note

  • The question it answers: "Can I afford this right now?"
  • Know your provider's range: Shop Pay Installments in the US covers orders from $35 to $30,000. Per Shopify's customer experience page, pay-in-4 is interest-free from $50 to $999.99, and monthly plans run from $150 to $30,000 at 0% to 36% APR.
  • Big orders get the monthly plans. On a $1,890 sofa, only the monthly plans apply, and they can carry interest. Orders over $20,000 need a down payment.
  • Keep it to one line: "Pay over time at checkout." Or use the message your provider gives you.
  • Be careful with "$X a month." Under US credit-ad rules (Regulation Z, section 1026.24), stating a payment amount can trigger extra disclosures, including the APR. Use your financing partner's approved wording, and ask them if you're unsure.

3. A Protection Plan, Off Until They Choose It

  • Why it fits furniture: spills, pets and kids. A fabric or leather plan answers a real fear on a big purchase.
  • Who does it: 6 stores in our scan use Mulberry and 3 use Extend. Mulberry is rated 4.7 (29 reviews) and charges a commission per plan. Extend is rated 4.8 (21 reviews) and free to install.
  • Never pre-tick it. On a $1,900 order, a surprise $129 charge is a refund request.

More on the setup and the legal side in our extended warranty guide.

4. Small "Finish the Room" Add-Ons

  • Best picks: pillows, a throw, a care kit, felt pads, a cleaning spray. Items under about 10% of the main price. That's our starting rule, not a benchmark.
  • Match the item: a throw in a colour that goes with the sofa they picked. Not your best seller in red.
  • Bigger matching pieces can work too. Outer's drawer shows a coffee table, side table and cover under "Add with Savings" next to its outdoor sofa. Test it after the small add-on, not before.

5. A Free Swatch Offer for the Unsure

  • The question it answers: "What if the colour looks different at home?"
  • The move: "Not sure about the colour? Add free swatches." It gives an unsure shopper a next step besides leaving.
  • Set a limit: Floyd caps swatches at 5 per cart. Set swatches up as a $0 product so they ship through your normal flow.

6. A Service Upgrade as the Reward

  • Skip "% off" bars. On big orders they cost a lot and teach people to wait for sales.
  • Reward with service instead: "Free white-glove delivery over $2,000." Medley charges $195 for white glove, so making it free at a threshold feels like real value.
  • Or sell the service: Burrow offers "Add Furniture Assembly" as a paid add-on.

7. Trust, Right Above the Button

  • Your real return window and who pays return freight. Big items are expensive to send back, so say it plainly.
  • Your trial if you have one ("365-night trial").
  • Your warranty ("10-year frame warranty"), the same wording everywhere.
  • A way to talk to someone. 14 of 43 stores mention showrooms. A "Questions? Book a free design call" link can help a $2,000 buyer more than another offer.

A Note on Shipping Costs for Big Items

  • Free shipping lines vary because costs vary. A rug ships in a box. A sofa may need freight. That's why we saw thresholds from $90 to $2,000.
  • Live carrier rates need the right plan. Per Shopify's help center, third-party carrier-calculated shipping is included on the Advanced and Plus plans. Grow stores can add it for a monthly fee, or get it with annual billing.
  • Show the cost early. If shipping is a flat $199 white-glove fee, say so in the drawer, not as a checkout surprise.

What to Leave Out of a High-Ticket Cart Drawer

  • Fake reservation timers. One mattress store's cart said "Hurry! Your order is reserved." Shopify doesn't hold stock in a cart, so only say that if your app really reserves it. See our cart timer guide for the FTC rules.
  • A percent-off bar. It trains buyers to wait for a sale.
  • A second big item before the first is settled. It asks for a second big decision before the first is made.
  • Pre-ticked protection or services. Off until they choose.
  • Busy, cheap-looking design. A $2,000 purchase needs a calm cart. Three offers and a flashing timer make it feel like a flash sale.

Why Drawer Design Matters for High-Ticket Brands

Furniture is bought on trust. If the cart looks different from the product page, the store feels less careful. The drawer should look like your brand: calm, spacious and clear.

Here are two customer drawers and our demo store, all built with Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells. Same app, three very different looks. (Crossword's includes custom work by our team.)

Three real cart drawers built with Oxify Cart Drawer and Upsells: Replenhair's black and white drawer with star ratings and special offers, Crossword's drawer with savings on every line and a three-tier reward bar, and Oxify's demo store drawer with the size on the line, a coupons panel and payment icons
Left to right: Replenhair (UK), Crossword (India) and Oxify's demo store. Demo store prices are placeholders, so they're blurred.

What it gives a high-ticket store:

  • A calm, on-brand look. Pick a template, set your brand colours, and use custom CSS for the rest. For a $2,000 order, keep it quieter than Replenhair's: one add-on row, not two.
  • Blocks for the big-ticket questions. Custom HTML for your lead-time message, Additional Notes for delivery notes, Split Payments for a pay-later message and Add Ons for protection.

Worked Example: A $1,890 Sofa

Here's how the numbers fit for a made-up store. Swap in your own.

  • Typical cart: one sofa at $1,890.
  • Reward line: free white-glove delivery at $2,000. A shopper is $110 away.
  • Add-ons: a pillow pair at $79 and a throw at $49. Neither alone closes the $110 gap; both together ($128) do.
  • Protection: 5-year fabric cover at $129, off by default.
  • For the unsure: free swatches, up to 5.

Now check the cost. If white-glove delivery costs you $150 and the add-ons carry a 50% margin, the $128 of add-ons brings in about $64. That covers part of the delivery cost, and the rest is a cost of winning a $2,000 order. If that math doesn't work for you, set the line higher or make white glove a paid add-on, like Medley does.

How to Set This Up With Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells

This is our app, so weigh that. Any strong cart app can build most of this. Here's how it goes in ours.

  1. Duplicate your theme first. Install Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells and turn on its app embed on the copy.
  2. Match your brand in Cart Templates and Design. Keep it calm.
  3. Add delivery info with a Custom HTML block, and turn on Additional Notes for delivery notes.
  4. Add financing with Split Payments. Check it doesn't print a per-payment amount unless your provider's disclosures sit next to it.
  5. Add protection in Add Ons, and check it starts unticked before you publish.
  6. Add one or two small add-ons in the Upsells block, using Manual mode so they match each piece.
  7. Set the reward in the Rewards block. It unlocks free shipping or a free gift at a threshold. To make white glove the reward, set it up as a $0 service product and give it as the gift.
  8. Test on your phone, then publish the theme copy.

It's Built for Shopify, rated 4.9 from 42 reviews, and starts at $9.99 a month for up to 100 orders a month, with a 14-day free trial (App Store listing, checked November 4, 2026).

How to Tell If It's Working

  • Watch conversion rate first. On big orders, removing doubt matters more than adding items.
  • Track three attach rates: financing, protection and add-ons.
  • Watch swatch orders. How many swatch orders turn into a full order within 30 days?
  • Give it four weeks. High-ticket buyers take longer to decide, so short tests mislead.

Frequently Asked Questions

I sell high-ticket furniture on Shopify. Which app lets me show cart-based promotional messaging near checkout?

Any cart drawer app with a reward bar and custom messages can do it. Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells, for example, shows a progress bar toward a reward like free shipping or a free service item, plus delivery, financing and protection lines. For high-ticket items, lead with service and trust messages, not percent-off offers. On Shopify Plus, Checkout Blocks can also show messages inside checkout.

Should I show financing in the cart?

Yes. 32 of the 43 furniture stores we checked load a financing widget, most often Affirm. Keep it to one line, and use your provider's approved wording. Stating a monthly payment amount can trigger extra disclosure rules in the US.

How do I show a delivery date in the Shopify cart?

Shopify's default cart drawer doesn't show one. Use theme code, a delivery-date app, or a custom block in your cart app with your lead time per product ("Made to order, ships in 6 to 8 weeks"). 26 of 43 stores we checked state a lead time somewhere.

Should a furniture store offer free swatches in the cart?

Yes, as a choice for unsure shoppers. 14 of 43 stores mention swatches. Set them up as a $0 product, and cap them (Floyd allows 5 per cart).

What free shipping threshold should a furniture store use?

It depends on what you ship. The stores we checked ranged from $90 to $2,000. Boxed items like rugs and bedding sit low; freight items like sofas sit high or charge a flat delivery fee. Work back from your real delivery cost.

Should I sell protection plans in the cart drawer?

Yes, as an opt-in. 9 of the 43 stores sell product protection through Mulberry or Extend. Never pre-tick it, and say exactly what it covers.

Are countdown timers a good idea for furniture?

Rarely. Big purchases take time, and a ticking clock can feel pushy. If you use one, tie it to a real deadline like a sale end. Never say "your order is reserved" unless your app really holds the stock.

Will a cart drawer app break my custom furniture theme?

It can clash with a heavily customised theme. Duplicate your theme, install and test on the copy, then publish. Built for Shopify apps must also not drop your store's Lighthouse score by more than 10 points.

About This Guide

  • Who: written by Aditya Singh, co-founder of Oxify. Oxify makes Shopify cart and upsell apps, including Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells. We say so wherever our app comes up.
  • How we checked it: on November 4, 2026, we tried 65 furniture and home brands and kept the 43 US-facing Shopify stores we could read. We read each homepage and one product page, and added an item to the cart on 12. Benchmarks come from Littledata and Baymard Institute; financing rules from Shopify's help center and the CFPB's Regulation Z page; app ratings from the Shopify App Store, all read the same day.
  • What we can't see: carts drawn by script after a click (including Rebuy's), offers set inside apps, and anything that depends on location or login.
  • Why we wrote it: store owners selling big-ticket items keep asking what their cart should say. The top search results are general upsell posts built for $30 add-ons, not $2,000 sofas.
