11 Best Shopify Cross-Sell & Recommendation Apps (2026)

Best Shopify Cross-Sell Apps

Short answer: the best Shopify cross-sell app depends on who picks the products and where shoppers see them. Picks by situation, from the live App Store listings on 13 October 2026:

  • Free starting point: Shopify Search & Discovery (free, by Shopify) for hand-picked complementary products on the product page, or Wiser (4.9 stars, 562 reviews) for automatic picks, free up to 50 orders a month. See the startup section.
  • Cross-sells, FBT and free gifts inside the cart drawer: Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app, so weigh that): 4.9 stars from 40 reviews, Built for Shopify, from $9.99 a month, 14-day trial, no free plan.
  • Pairs learned from past orders: Frequently Bought Together CBB (4.9, 1,207 reviews, from $9.99 a month), or Also Bought CBB (4.8, 372 reviews) at a flat $19.99.
  • AI personalization for large catalogs: LimeSpot (4.6, 507 reviews) or Rebuy (4.7, 852 reviews, from $25 a month).
  • Hand-picked offers at no fixed cost: Essential Upsell & Cross Sell (5.0, 2,424 reviews), free until it has earned $100, or Zoorix (4.9, 388 reviews), free with no usage limit if you accept its branding.
  • Not installable right now: Selleasy, our best-value product-page pick until this month. On 13 October 2026 its listing read “This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store.” Existing installs keep working.

Updated 13 October 2026: all 11 listings were re-checked that day (first checked 17 September 2026), and Selleasy’s listing is no longer installable. Disclosure: Oxify publishes this guide and makes Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells, the app ranked first. We built it and we ranked it first, so weigh that as you read.

This page is about one decision: which complementary products a shopper sees, and who picks them. Some apps learn the pairs from your order data; others show exactly what you choose by hand. If you want offers and funnels instead (discounted upgrades, one-click post-purchase offers, multi-step flows), that's a different job, covered in our best Shopify upsell apps roundup.

If the cart is where shoppers decide, Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (4.9 from 40 reviews, Built for Shopify, from $9.99/mo, 14-day trial) is the one app here that puts complementary-product recommendations, a frequently-bought-together row and free gifts inside the slide-out cart, next to the checkout button. It is not the deepest recommendation engine. Wiser (under 500 orders a month) and LimeSpot (large catalogs, segments) go further, and Rebuy covers cart, checkout, post-purchase and search from $25/mo. If you only need a block on the product page, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell costs nothing until it has earned $100, and Frequently Bought Together CBB learns pairs from your order history. Selleasy (4.9 from 2,748 reviews on 11 October, free up to 50 orders) was the best-value choice here, but new stores could not install it on 13 October 2026. Also Bought CBB is a flat $19.99, and Zoorix is free with no usage limit if you accept its branding. Before paying for anything, set up complementary products in Shopify's free Search & Discovery app.

Key facts (checked 13 October 2026)

  • Two ways to pick products. Data-driven apps (Rebuy, Wiser, LimeSpot, FBT CBB, Also Bought CBB) build pairs from orders, browsing or AI. Manual apps (Selleasy, Essential, Zoorix, Search & Discovery) show the pairs you set. Oxify and Aheadworks mix both.
  • Shopify's free Search & Discovery app lets you choose up to 10 complementary products for each product. They appear on the product page if your theme supports it. The app can't show them in the cart, add discounts or pick products automatically.
  • Besides Oxify, four apps below showed the Built for Shopify badge in their listing header on 13 October 2026: FBT CBB, Also Bought CBB, Aheadworks and Essential. Selleasy showed it on 11 October, before its listing became unavailable. Wiser, LimeSpot, Zoorix and Rebuy do not, and Shopify's own Search & Discovery shows no badge.
  • "Free" means different things for each app. Wiser is free up to 50 store orders a month (so was Selleasy, before its listing became unavailable). Essential is free until the app has earned you $100. LimeSpot is free up to 10 orders a month and not on Shopify Plus. FBT CBB is free for 3 manual bundles. Aheadworks is free for 50 recommendation clicks a month. Zoorix is free with no usage limit, but shows "Powered by Zoorix" branding until you pay. Rebuy is free for development stores, and its separate Rebuy Monetize plan (offers on your thank-you page that pay you) is free; the recommendation packages start at $25 a month. Oxify has no free plan, only a 14-day trial.

Data-driven or manual: how these apps choose what to show

The biggest difference between the apps below is not the widget design. It is where the suggestions come from.

Selection methodHow it worksApps that lead with itWorks best when
ManualYou pair each product with its add-onsSelleasy, Essential, Zoorix, Oxify, Search & DiscoveryYour catalog is small or pairings need expert judgment
RulesTags, collections or metafields fill the slotsWiser, AheadworksProducts fall into clear groups (sizes, ranges, accessories)

AI personalizationPicks change with each visitor's behaviorRebuy, LimeSpot, Wiser (Oxify, Selleasy and Aheadworks list lighter AI picks)You have hundreds of products and steady traffic

Under about 200 orders a month, manual picks usually beat the algorithms, simply because there's too little data. Past that, a data-driven app saves you from pairing hundreds of products yourself.

How we checked these apps

We first opened each app's Shopify App Store listing on 17 September 2026 and opened all 11 again on 11 and 13 October 2026, recording:

  • the star rating and review count, taken from the listing's structured data
  • every published plan and its limits
  • the free-trial length
  • whether the Built for Shopify badge appears

We did not run controlled revenue tests on other companies' apps, so this page doesn't include conversion numbers. Our verdicts are based on what each plan includes and what it costs at a typical order volume.

What changed since our May list:

  • Moved to other roundups. AfterSell and ReConvert (post-purchase) and BOGOS and Bold (promotions) are offer tools rather than recommendation tools. See the post-purchase roundup and the apps covered elsewhere section below.
  • Rebuy (back). On 17 September 2026 its listing showed "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store", so we left it out. On 11 October 2026 the listing was live again as Rebuy Personalization Engine (4.7 from 853 reviews), so it is entry 11 below. See Rebuy alternatives for the other side of that comparison.
  • Glood. Now listed as Glood Product Recommendations (4.7, 125 reviews on 17 September 2026, not re-checked). Its free plan covers trending, bestseller and recently-viewed widgets only; "bought together" and similar-product widgets start at $19.99/mo with a 10,000-display cap, so cheaper routes to the same widgets appear below.
  • Selleasy (unavailable). On 13 October 2026 its listing read “This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store. If you have support questions, contact Logbase directly.” It keeps its place below, with a note, because existing installs still work.
  • Added: Zoorix. Several competing lists name it as the best free option, and its listing backs that up.

What a cross-sell app should do

A cross-sell app answers one question: what else does this shopper need with this product? A good one does three things well:

  • It suggests products that go with the item, not products that replace it. A charger next to a phone is a cross-sell. A second phone is a "related product", and it makes the shopper reconsider their choice. Our FBT vs cross-sell vs related products guide explains the difference.
  • It picks products from real data. Choosing by hand works for small catalogs. Once you have a few hundred orders, use "bought together" data from your order history.
  • It adds items to the cart in one click, without sending the shopper to another page.

Where the widget appears matters less than these three things, but it helps narrow the list:

Best Cross-Sell App for Startups and New Shopify Stores

For a new store, the best cross-sell app is a free one: Shopify Search & Discovery lets you hand-pick complementary products at no cost, and Wiser adds automatic picks free up to 50 orders a month. Under about 200 orders a month there is too little order data for algorithms to beat your own pairings, so your stage decides the pick more than the feature list does. Prices are from the live listings, read on 13 October 2026.

Your stagePickWhat it costsWhy
Pre-launch or a small catalogShopify Search & Discovery$0Choose up to 10 complementary products per product, shown on the product page if your theme supports it. No cart placement, discounts or automatic picks.

Cross-sells inside a cart drawerEssent Cart Drawer$0 up to 30 orders a month, then $8.99 to 995.0 from 1,087 reviews, Built for Shopify, with every feature, cart upsells included, on the free plan. Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app) does this job with free gifts and post-purchase offers from $9.99 up to 100 orders, but has no free plan.
Never want to hit a usage limitZoorix$0 with “Powered by Zoorix” brandingEvery feature on the free plan. Paid plans ($7.99 to $29.99) mainly remove the branding and are tied to the revenue Zoorix attributes to itself.

What we would do on a new store: add complementary products to your 20 best sellers in Search & Discovery, then test one cross-sell in one placement for two weeks before paying for anything. Oxify has no free plan for live stores, only a 14-day trial and free development stores, so under 30 orders a month Essent or Wiser is the cheaper way to test cart cross-sells. Selleasy was the usual free pick, but new stores could not install it on 13 October 2026. We publish this guide and make Oxify, so check every price on the listing before you install.

The 11 apps, reviewed

1. Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app): best for cross-sells, FBT and free gifts inside the cart drawer

Oxify is our app. We built it, so weigh this entry accordingly.

Rating 4.9 (40 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $9.99/mo · Trial 14 days

Plans: $9.99/mo (0–100 orders), $19.99 (101–200), $29.99 (201–500), $49.99 (501–1,000), $79.99 (1,001–2,000), $99.99 (2,001–3,000), $149.99 (3,000+), optional $299/mo Enterprise; all features on every plan.

Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells cross-sell widgets in the cart drawer

Why it's first: Most recommendation apps stop at the product page or add a row to your theme's cart. Oxify replaces the cart with a slide-out drawer and shows complementary products there, alongside a frequently-bought-together row, free gifts that add themselves, quantity breaks and a rewards bar. You choose the products per item or let the listed AI recommendations fill the slot, and the same install covers post-purchase and thank-you page offers.

Pros

  • Recommendations, FBT, free gifts and quantity breaks in one drawer, so there's one script instead of three apps.
  • Built for Shopify badge, and every feature is on the $9.99 plan.
  • Reports recommendation performance inside the app.

Cons

  • 40 reviews, far fewer than Selleasy or FBT CBB.
  • No free plan, and at 500 orders it costs $29.99 against Also Bought CBB’s flat $19.99 ($149.99 above 3,000 orders).
  • Its AI picks are lighter than a dedicated engine: no audience segments or A/B/n testing like LimeSpot Max, and fewer automatic widget types than Wiser.

Good for: Stores where shoppers add one item and head straight to checkout, so the cart is the last place to suggest a matching product.

Not for: Stores happy with their current cart that only want a product-page block. A free or cheaper app covers that. Setup steps: how to add upsells to a Shopify cart drawer.

2. Selleasy: best value for hand-picked recommendations (listing unavailable, October 2026)

Availability: on 13 October 2026 Selleasy’s listing read “This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store. If you have support questions, contact Logbase directly.” Existing installs are not affected, but new stores cannot install it until the listing returns. The rating and plans below are from 11 October.

Rating 4.9 (2,748 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $9/mo (free up to 50 orders) · Trial 30 days

Plans: free up to 50 orders/mo, $9/mo up to 500, $19/mo up to 1,000, $29/mo above 1,000.

Selleasy frequently bought together and add-on widgets

How it picks products: Mostly you do. For each offer you name the trigger product and the items to suggest, and Selleasy adds a pool of 50 AI-chosen recommendations on every plan for products you haven't paired yet. The suggestions render as a bundle row, checkbox list, grid, carousel or pop-up beside the add-to-cart button, and the same offer can be reused in your theme's cart.

Pros

  • Largest review base on this list, and the lowest top-tier price ($29).
  • Nothing is locked to higher plans; a free setup call is included.

Cons

  • 50 AI picks run out fast in a big catalog, so most pairing stays manual.
  • The order limit counts every store order, not only orders that took an offer.

Good for: Stores already running it that know which accessories belong with each product. New stores can use Essential Upsell & Cross Sell or Wiser’s free plan instead. Outgrowing it? See Selleasy alternatives.

3. Wiser: best automatic recommendations for small stores

Rating 4.9 (562 reviews) · Built for Shopify: No · From $9/mo (free up to 50 orders) · Trial 14 days

Plans: free for 0–50 monthly orders, Basic $9/mo (51–100), Growth $19/mo (101–300), Premium $49/mo (301–500).

How it picks products: Widgets fill themselves in: AI "frequently bought together", related products matched by tags, metafields or AI, and best-seller and new-arrival rows that refresh on their own. Post-purchase and thank-you page widgets are included, and you can still override any pick by hand.

Pros

  • Genuinely hands-off picks for catalogs too big to pair manually.
  • Same features on every plan.

Cons

  • No published plan above 500 orders, and $49 at 500 is over five times Selleasy.
  • No Built for Shopify badge.

Good for: Stores under about 300 orders a month with too many products to pair by hand.

4. Frequently Bought Together CBB: best at learning pairs from past orders

Rating 4.9 (1,207 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $9.99/mo (free for 3 manual bundles) · Trial 14 days

Plans: Starter free (3 manual bundles), $9.99/mo (up to 50 orders), $24.99/mo (up to 500), $39.99/mo (500+), read 13 October 2026. On 11 October the first two paid tiers were listed at $14.99 and $19.99.

Frequently Bought Together CBB product page bundle widget

How it picks products: On paid plans the app reads your full order history and suggests the items customers actually bought alongside each product. You can replace any suggestion for a single product or set global recommendations that apply store-wide, and the free Starter plan is limited to three bundles you build yourself. Everything shows in one block under the product description, with a single button that adds the set.

Pros

  • Automatic pairs from real purchases, not guesses from tags.
  • Flat $39.99 at any volume above 500 orders.

Cons

  • Product and cart pages only (the 13 October listing shows the widget on both): nothing after checkout.
  • Automatic picks need paid plans and enough orders to be meaningful.

Good for: Established stores with a few hundred past orders and a cart setup they already like.

5. Also Bought CBB: best flat price

Rating 4.8 (372 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $19.99/mo · Trial 14 days

Plans: one plan, $19.99/mo or $199.90/yr, unlimited products, orders and traffic.

How it picks products: A "customers who bought this also bought" row built from your orders, by Code Black Belt (the team behind FBT CBB), on the App Store since 2016. It's a row of individual products, so shoppers add them one at a time.

Pros

  • Price never rises with orders or traffic.
  • Long track record.

Cons

  • Limited design control; one recent review says the block looks too large after Shopify updates.
  • No free plan.

6. Upsell & Cross Sell ‑ AW (Aheadworks): best for many placements

Formerly listed as "Cross Sell & Upsell by SSC". Same listing URL, same app.

Rating 4.8 (481 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $29.99/mo (free for 50 clicks) · Trial 14 days

Plans: Free (2 placements, 50 recommendation clicks/mo, with Aheadworks branding), $29.99/mo (3 placements, 2,500 clicks), $49.99/mo (8 placements, 5,000 clicks), $59.99/mo (8 placements plus custom pages, 10,000 clicks); about 17% off yearly.

How it picks products: AI plus manual rules, shown as FBT bundles and related-product widgets in up to eight places, including the product page, cart, checkout and post-purchase page.

Pros

  • The widest set of placements on this list.
  • One-click add from every widget.

Cons

  • Billed by recommendation clicks, and the top published plan stops at 10,000.
  • Free plan carries branding and only 50 clicks.

7. LimeSpot: deepest AI personalization for large catalogs

Rating 4.6 (507 reviews) · Built for Shopify: No · From $9.99/mo (free up to 10 orders) · Trial 15 days

Plans: Turbo free up to 10 orders/mo, then from $9.99/mo rising with orders (listing example: up to 250 orders = $19.99); Max from $50/mo, rising with store revenue (example: up to $50k = $150/mo). Turbo doesn't work with Shopify Plus.

How it picks products: LimeSpot is a recommendation engine first. Its AI turns your store's data into suggestions automatically, and you can mix those with manual picks or feed a row from a smart collection. Rows can sit on the home, collection, product and cart pages; on Max, the same personalization reaches email and SMS, with audience segments and A/B/n tests on top.

Pros

  • The most complete data-driven engine here, with segments and testing on Max.
  • Unlimited recommendations on every page type.

Cons

  • Price examples rather than a full price list; Max scales with total store revenue.
  • No Built for Shopify badge; Turbo excludes Plus stores.

8. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell: best way to start at no cost

Rating 5.0 (2,424 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Yes · From $9.99/mo (free until $100 earned) · Trial 14 days

Plans: free up to $100 of extra revenue, Starter $9.99/mo (up to $500), Essential $19.99/mo (up to $1,000), Professional $39.99/mo (unlimited).

Essential Upsell & Cross Sell product page widgets

How it picks products: You set up each offer: pick the products for a "bought together" group or a related-products row, and optionally attach an automatic discount to the suggested items. The listing also tags AI recommendations, but the workflow centers on offers you configure. Suggestions show beneath the buy button and after purchase; the cart page is added on the $19.99 tier.

Pros

  • Perfect 5.0 across more than 2,400 reviews.
  • Costs nothing until it has produced $100.

Cons

  • Bills rise as the offers succeed, so costs are hard to predict.
  • Cart placement needs the second paid tier.

9. Zoorix: best free plan with no usage limit

Rating 4.9 (388 reviews) · Built for Shopify: No · From $7.99/mo (free with branding) · Trial 30 days

Plans: Forever Free (all features, with app branding), then Basic $7.99/mo, Growth $14.99/mo and Premium $29.99/mo, tied to the revenue Zoorix attributes to itself ($100–$200, $200–$400 and $400–$800).

How it picks products: By hand, through cross-sell bundles and mix-and-match sets, plus product recommendations, volume discounts and a cart drawer. Paid plans mainly remove the "Powered by Zoorix" label.

Pros

  • Every feature free, with no order cap.
  • Includes its own cart drawer.

Cons

  • No automatic picks from order data, and no Built for Shopify badge.
  • No published plan above $800 of attributed revenue; ask support before relying on it.

10. Shopify Search & Discovery: the free starting point

Rating 2.7 (509 reviews) · Built for Shopify: Built by Shopify · From Free · Trial not needed

How it picks products: You choose up to 10 complementary products for each product, shown in the product details section if your theme supports it. Most complaints behind the low rating concern search and filters, not recommendations.

Pros

  • Free and native, with no extra script.
  • Good way to find out which pairings matter before paying.

Cons

  • No cart placement, discounts or automatic picks.
  • Depends on theme support.

11. Rebuy Personalization Engine: broadest AI platform, priced by orders

Rating 4.7 (852 reviews) · Built for Shopify: No · From $25/mo (free for development stores) · Trial 14 days

Plans: "Starts as low as $25 / month", with the price scaling by monthly orders; the listing publishes no price steps. You choose which of four packages to pay for (Cart & Merchandising, Checkout & Post-Purchase, Search & Collections, Flows & A/B Testing), and the listing says bundling them saves up to 30%. It also lists a free "Rebuy Monetize" plan that earns you money from your thank-you page, which is separate from the recommendation packages.

How it picks products: AI-powered recommendations plus custom rules you set yourself. They run in a slide-out Smart Cart, in checkout, on post-purchase pages and in search and collections, and the listing names A/B testing and recommendation-performance reports. Its listing showed "not currently available" on 17 September 2026, which is why earlier versions of this page left it out.

Pros

  • One vendor for recommendations in the cart, checkout, post-purchase and search, with A/B testing.
  • 804 of its 852 ratings are five-star.

Cons

  • No published price steps, only "from $25" scaling with orders, so you cannot compare cost at your volume without a quote or a trial.
  • Priced as separate packages, so the bill depends on which parts you switch on.
  • No Built for Shopify badge.

Good for: Stores that want AI recommendations across cart, checkout, post-purchase and search from one vendor and accept order-based pricing.

Not for: Stores that only want a product-page row. Selleasy or Search & Discovery cost less. Weighing Rebuy against others? See Rebuy alternatives.

Apps you might expect here, and where they are

Ratings and review counts in this section are from 17 September 2026 and were not re-checked on 11 October.

  • Candy Rack (4.9, 259 reviews, Built for Shopify): a pop-up and slide-cart offer app, so we review it with upsell apps.
  • Honeycomb Upsell & Cross Sell (4.6, 162 reviews): builds multi-step upsell and downsell funnels, which is offer sequencing rather than product recommendation.
  • Amplify, formerly PickyStory (4.5, 538 reviews): a bundle builder at $99.50/mo, covered as a bundle tool in the upsell roundup and bundle apps.
  • Shop the Look: Easy Lookbooks (free plan available): shoppable lookbook galleries that tag products in a photo. Useful for fashion and home decor, but it shows styled sets you curate, not recommendations.

Which cross-sell app should you pick?

  • Shoppers decide in the slide-out cart: Choose Oxify (our app), which puts recommendations, FBT and free gifts in the drawer from $9.99 a month, or Essent Cart Drawer if you want a free plan up to 30 orders a month. In-cart recommendations covers the approach.
  • Under 50 orders a month: Use Search & Discovery, plus Wiser’s free plan. If you'd rather never hit an order limit, Zoorix is free with app branding. At this stage you don't have enough order data for AI picks to beat your own.
  • Small catalog, product-page block only: Choose Essential Upsell & Cross Sell, free until it has earned $100 and $9.99 to $39.99 after, or Also Bought CBB at a flat $19.99. Selleasy was the cheapest choice until its listing became unavailable on 13 October 2026.
  • Hundreds of products: Choose Wiser if you're under 500 orders a month. Choose LimeSpot if you also want audience segments and don't mind asking for a quote. Choose Rebuy if you want one vendor for AI recommendations across the cart, checkout, post-purchase and search, and can budget from $25 a month.
  • You want pairs learned from past orders: Choose FBT CBB, or Also Bought CBB if you'd rather pay a flat price.
  • You want shoppers to buy a bigger or better version of the same product (larger sizes, quantity discounts, premium versions): that's an upsell, not a cross-sell. See best Shopify upsell apps and best Shopify bundle apps.

How to set up cross-selling on Shopify

  1. Start with the free tool. In Search & Discovery, open Product recommendations and add complementary products to your 20 best sellers.
  2. Find pairs in your orders. Export your last few hundred orders and note which products are often bought together. Those pairs become your first offers.
  3. Choose one placement. Use the product page if shoppers never notice your accessories. Use the cart if they add one item and go straight to checkout. For layout tips, see product page upsells.
  4. Keep offers small and cheap. Show two or three matching products, each priced well below the main item.
  5. Measure for two weeks. Track attach rate (the share of orders that include a suggested product), average order value and checkout conversion together. See measuring upsell performance.

Common cross-selling mistakes

  • Showing too many products. A row of eight items looks like a catalog. Two or three good matches work better.
  • Showing the same offer everywhere. If the product page and the cart suggest the same item, the second suggestion is wasted.
  • Cross-selling only after purchase. Shopify skips the post-purchase page for some payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and gift cards (Shopify docs). Always include at least one cross-sell before checkout.
  • Adding widgets without testing speed. Every widget adds code that has to load. Shopify's enforced rule is that an app may not lower a store's Lighthouse performance score by more than 10 points, and the Built for Shopify badge repeats that limit (Shopify docs, badge requirements). That is Shopify's rule, not a test result for any app here. Do upsells hurt conversion? explains how to test the impact on your own store.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best cross-sell app for Shopify?

It depends on who picks the products and where shoppers see them. Free start: Shopify Search & Discovery, or Wiser (4.9 from 562 reviews) for automatic picks free up to 50 orders. Pairs learned from past orders: Frequently Bought Together CBB (4.9 from 1,207, from $9.99/mo). AI personalization for big catalogs: LimeSpot or Rebuy (4.7 from 852, from $25/mo). Cross-sells, FBT and free gifts inside the cart drawer: Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app; 4.9 from 40 reviews, Built for Shopify, from $9.99/mo), which we list first. Selleasy was the best-value product-page pick, but new stores could not install it on 13 October 2026. Listings read 13 October 2026.

What is the best free cross-sell app for Shopify?

Shopify Search & Discovery is free with no limits, and lets you choose complementary products for the product page yourself. If you need more, Wiser is free up to 50 store orders a month, AOV.ai Bundles Quantity Breaks is listed as free, Essential is free until it has earned you $100, and FBT CBB is free for 3 manual bundles. Zoorix is free with no usage limit, in exchange for a “Powered by Zoorix” label. Selleasy’s free plan (up to 50 orders) only helps stores that already have it: its listing read “not currently available” on 13 October 2026.

What is the best cross-sell app for a startup or new Shopify store?

Start free. Shopify Search & Discovery costs nothing and lets you hand-pick up to 10 complementary products per product. Wiser (4.9 from 562 reviews) adds automatic picks free up to 50 orders a month, AOV.ai Bundles Quantity Breaks (5.0 from 1,651) is listed as free for FBT and bundle blocks, and Essent Cart Drawer (5.0 from 1,087) is free up to 30 orders a month if you want cross-sells in the cart. Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app) has no free plan for live stores; it costs $9.99 a month up to 100 orders after a 14-day trial. Prices read 13 October 2026. See the startup section.

What is the difference between cross-selling and upselling?

Cross-selling suggests a different product that goes with the one being bought, like filters with a coffee machine. Upselling suggests a bigger or better version of the same product. Cross-sells add more items to an order. Upsells raise the price of a single item.

Is there an AI cross-selling app for Shopify?

Yes. Rebuy, Wiser, LimeSpot and Aheadworks use AI to choose recommendations from your products and orders, and LimeSpot goes furthest. On paid plans, FBT CBB builds pairs from your order history, Selleasy includes 50 AI recommendations on every plan and Oxify lists AI recommendations inside its cart drawer.

Does Shopify have built-in cross-selling?

Partly. The free Search & Discovery app lets you choose up to 10 complementary products for each product, and themes that support it show them on the product page. It can't show them in the cart, add discounts or pick products automatically.

What is a good alternative to Rebuy for cross-selling?

Rebuy Personalization Engine (4.7 from 852 reviews) starts at $25 a month and scales with orders. For cheaper automatic picks, try Wiser (free up to 50 orders, $9 to $49 after) or LimeSpot. For cross-sells in the cart, use a cart drawer app such as Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (our app). For the lowest cost, start with Search & Discovery or Wiser’s free plan. Our Rebuy alternatives guide compares these options in detail.

How much does a Shopify cross-sell app cost?

Published prices for stores with up to about 500 orders a month run from $0 to about $60. Most apps price by total store orders: Wiser is $9 to $49, FBT CBB $9.99 to $39.99 and Oxify $9.99 to $149.99. Also Bought CBB is a flat $19.99. Essential and Zoorix price by the revenue they attribute to themselves, Aheadworks by recommendation clicks, and Rebuy from $25 with unpublished steps. Selleasy ($9 to $29) could not be installed by new stores on 13 October 2026. Prices read 13 October 2026.

Can I show cross-sells on the Shopify checkout page?

Only on Shopify Plus. Apps add offers to the checkout page through checkout UI extensions, which Shopify limits to Plus stores. Post-purchase offers, shown after payment, work on every plan. Aheadworks, LimeSpot, Rebuy and Oxify all list checkout or post-purchase placements, so check which one a listing means before you rely on it.

Do cross-sell apps slow down a Shopify store?

Any widget adds code, and the impact varies by app and theme. Shopify's enforced rule is that an app may not lower a store's Lighthouse performance score by more than 10 points, and the Built for Shopify badge repeats that limit. That is a rule, not a result for any app here, so check your theme's speed score in the Shopify admin before and after installing, and remove any app that costs you points you cannot justify.

Can I use two cross-sell apps at the same time?

You can, but keep them on different pages. Two apps competing for the product page double the code and often show the same product twice. A common split is one app for the product page and another for the cart or post-purchase page.

Why aren't Candy Rack, Honeycomb or PickyStory on this list?

They are offer tools more than recommendation tools: Candy Rack runs pop-up and slide-cart offers, Honeycomb builds upsell funnels, and PickyStory (now Amplify) builds bundles. All three are reviewed in our upsell apps roundup.

Want cross-sells right next to the checkout button? Oxify Cart Drawer & Upsells (4.9, Built for Shopify) adds them to your slide cart from $9.99/mo, with a 14-day free trial. For cross-sells on the product page, see Oxify frequently bought together.
